Web Interest Group Meeting Agenda
Central Resource Library

Large Public Meeting Room
Thursday, December 21 from 8 - 9:15 a.m.
New Web Calendar (Melissa Batson)
Melissa patiently demonstrated the calendar.
The printed calendar of events will continue to be distributed. In the past it has been known by several names. In the future it will be officially called the “calendar of events and activities.”
The new Web calendar will be available Jan. 3rd. On this day, the Library’s front page will have a new graphic to link into the calendar. The daily listing of events will go away.
Registration will be turned on for GA, LA, CRL, and BV on Jan. 26th. For further details, consult the Project Schedule of Activities on the Intranet. Even when online registration is turned on for pilot sites, patrons can still call to register. Staff will just go into the Web calendar and register them.
Bookmarks will be going out to pilot sites at the end of Jan. Online registration will be available to all in Aug. At that time, all locations will receive promotional bookmarks. Jennifer will be sending out several reminder e-mails. Leslie is working on an online training session with screen shots for staff. SWIX meets the second Thurs. in Jan. — another chance to demo.
The Scary List
Content Management System (CMS): (Erica)
1/9/07
WCT trained on the new CMS Friday, 12/15/2006. Amy and LIT continue to work with the Swedish developers doing their magic and creating the customized JCL look and functionality. At present, development is still in process along with preparation for acceptance testing. The new CMS offers developers additional flexibility and efficiency that will allow them to focus on developing content. The New world will provide patrons opportunities to comment and participate on the Web. At the next WIG meeting, Erica will provide a quick tour around the CMS. All blogs will be moved eventually into the CMS.
KC Science, Inc.: (Erica)
1/9/2007
This project is funded by an IMLS grant with several local science partners. Kasey is working on a fantastic marketing program. Jennifer is developing many cool events and programs. The KC Science, Inc. Web site (http://www.kcscienceinc.org) will be hosted by JCL during the first stages of the grant. The Web site is being put up quickly to meet a deadline of Jan. 9th. It will be simple and for promoting programs only at present. The new WCT Developer (Julie’s replacement) will be responsible for KC Science Inc. and further development of the site will take place when he/she arrives. Mark you calendars for the Feb 22nd Science Night!
JoCoHealth Database (Sarah):
1/31/2007
Sarah is working to update all listings in the current database, and is adding categories to each entry.
2/1/2007
Central Search is a federated search product from Serials Solutions. It will be available to librarians for comment and as a playground before the launch on 2/1/07. This will be a phased roll-out as not all of the desired features of Central Search will be available by 2/1.
2/28/2007
Dave Hanson, Mignon Kamath, and Fran Dennison have been working hard to help create and edit content for this site. The content is largely ready to enter into the CMS as the pilot site. It will be debuted during Entrepreneur Week, Feb. 26 to Mar. 2, 2007.
3/5/2007
The rockin’ cool templates for this site have been developed. Amy gave the group a sneak peek of the site look and feel including the skins. Local high school students will also contribute to the development of additional skins.
3/31/2007
The current stats offer only page counts, but the new CMS will provide more detailed stats about how users entered, what they used, and when and where they left. Stats will be available only after the new pages go up.
JoCoKids and JoCoLibrary (Erica):
5/31/2007
Development for these two Web sites will begin in earnest after the CMS is in place. Testing will begin by May. The sites will go live to public in late summer. Kids will be developed at the same time.
Web Content Developer Search Update (Erica Reynolds)
Interviews are currently underway. The last planned interview is scheduled for next Friday, 12/29/2007. Erica hopes to have someone in place by February.
Scott will be moving to the CRL IS Training Team as the new Instructional Design Librarian. His last day with Web Content will be Jan. 3rd. Congratulations, Scott!
