A quick note on blog vs e-mail housekeeping

It might be a little confusing that all the posts and comments go directly to your e-mail box, too.

Some folks on the original Web Oversite Group thought that people wouldn't know to check the blog/RSS feed if they weren't alerted when discussion threads were flying via e-mail. So, we added the e-mail alerts.

Here's the deal: if you don't want the JCL-Web Interest Group e-mail distribution list to receive each and every post and comment, let me know. If enough of you say "no" to the e-mail alert, I'll turn it off, and I'll assume you can find your way to the blog and/or RSS feed. But you have to vote (preferably here in the comments)--and it's an all or nothing thing. Either I turn off the e-mail alert for everyone, or I leave it on for everyone.

Assuming we keep the e-mail alert on: it's perfectly fine to respond back to the e-mails we all get via e-mail...but remember that only the posts to the blog and the comments will be tracked on the blog. If you respond via e-mail, it's just an e-mail discussion. If you respond on the blog via post or comment, it's forever etched in our collective bloggy memory--PLUS, we all get alerted to its presence on the blog via the e-mail alert. Again--your call.
