JoCoWeb World Planning

We are currently in the process of planning our outcomes and strategies for 2006-2008. JoCoWeb World includes the library’s Web site, partnership sites, iBistro, purchased content such as databases, and all online resources and services.

Here's our process:

1. Web Oversight staff (all of our Web Advisory Members and Branch Managers) helped to identify the JoCoWeb World's strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT).

2. The following outcomes and strategies for 2006-2008 were drafted, using the SWOT analysis.

3. We are currently in the process of completing the JoCoWeb World plan (the update to the Digital Community Information Clearinghouse) and all the tactics have been incorporated into the living, breathing Web Content Team work plan. (Both coming soon and will be posted here.) And, now, we want your input!


Here are the Outcomes & Strategies:

Outcome I: Ease of use and integrated content
Patrons will consider the JoCoWeb World to be well-organized and easy-to-use with integrated collections, resources, and community information designed to best serve their needs.

Strategy A. Build Web sites and configure Web-based services to be well-organized and easy for patrons to use.

Strategy B. Integrate collections, resources, and community information online to serve the needs of patrons.

Outcome II: Enhanced content, services and interaction
Patrons will benefit from improved online services, locally-relevant information, and opportunities for online interaction and engagement.

Strategy A. Improve, repackage or create locally-relevant Web-based information and resources.

Strategy B. Improve or create online patron services and opportunities for interaction and engagement.

Outcome III: Enhanced partnerships and community engagement
Patrons will benefit from enhanced partnerships with local governments, organizations, and businesses that support and enrich the lives of Johnson County Residents.

Strategy A. Assess the benefit of existing partnerships and identify the need for additional partnerships.

Strategy B. Enhance existing partnerships with local government, organizations, and businesses and encourage community interaction, involvement, and engagement.

Outcome IV: Awareness and promotion
Patrons and staff will be aware of the JoCoWeb World sites and be well-informed of the content, resources, and opportunities available online.

Strategy A. Develop promotional plans for each of the JoCoWeb World sites.

Strategy B. Actively promote the JoCoWeb World sites and the content, resources, and opportunities available online to Johnson County residents.

Outcome V: Evaluation
Patrons will benefit from a JoCoWeb World that is effectively planned and evaluated to ensure relevance and high return on investment (ROI).

Strategy A. Develop system of on-going evaluation to ensure the JoCoWeb World is relevant, effective, and yields a high return on investment.

Strategy B. Employ system of evaluation to ensure the JoCoWeb World is relevant, effective, and yields a high return on investment.
